Course Syllabus/Syllabus du Cours
Grade 8 French/Français Grade 8
Welcome to Grade 8 French and get ready for an exciting and new year. This year in Core French we will explore a variety of French Units together. Each of these units will take between 6-7 weeks to complete.
My goal for your class this year is to help you learn the language, appreciate the culture and help you become more conformable in communicating in French. In order to complete this goal our French classes will gradually be conducted in all French and students will be expected to speak only French. This is a transition that will take place over the first several weeks of class.
As a student it is your responsibility to come into class with an open mind, readiness to learn, respect for others and most importantly ready to have some fun learning!
General Curriculum Outcomes
By the end of the year students will be able to:
communicate effectively in French, both orally and in writing; and to interact appropriately in a variety of situations that relate to their needs and interests.
demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of Francophone cultures, while comparing them with their own culture, as well as an appreciation and understanding of Canada’s multicultural reality.
choose and implement strategies to facilitate their communication in French and their learning.
recognize and use in context elements of the linguistic code, orally and in writing, to facilitate their communication in French.
