The process of formative assessment can has been broken down into five standards that should be met by all involved in the process.
What does this all mean?
|Clear and appropriate learning targets||Clear, reasonable goal-centred expectations are conveyed. Both teacher and student can answer the question: "Why am I doing this?"|
|Clear and appropriate users and uses||Develop clear pictures on the use of assessment results and who uses them|
|Choosing the best assessment method||Consider the best method of assessment and evaluate the assessment tool.|
|Avoiding potential sources of bias and distortion||The assessment tool and its delivery does not impede the students' ability to demonstrate proficiency|
