The Autism Centre of the South Shore was founded during the 2007/2008 school year by a group of interested volunteers who shared the dream of having a centre of excellence to support persons living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It offers services, information and support to individuals, parents and professionals.

The space for the Centre was provided by the South Shore Regional School Board as well as the management and programs services of  their Autism Consultant. Volunteers operate the Centre's lending library. A Board of Directors oversees the operation of the centre and administration of funds.

The Autism Centre of the South Shore is a non-profit organization currently seeking Society status.
